All members of the team from senior management to contractors have access to reports and can create customizable dashboards. The agency is virtually paperless. PADGS is currently managing 183 design and 80 capital construction projects in the new system. In 2017, construction managers began putting data into the system. In every case, the preconstruction or construction teams evaluate whether it's worthwhile to move projects into e-Builder, or let them finish with legacy systems because of location, scope or completion date. The next phase will be the integration of e-Builder with our SAP enterprise resource planning system. Currently, those two systems don't talk. But in the future, invoices approved in e-Builder will automatically flow to the ERP system for payment. Topper adds, "The great thing about system implementations like e-Builder is that they bring with them their own imperative and momentum. At the end of the day, our proficiency at delivering construction projects has a direct impact on jobs in Pennsylvania and has a direct impact on the operations of the state agencies who serve Pennsylvanians in need and who drive every aspect of state government." The Pennsylvania Department of General Services Public Works Modernization initiative earned e-Builder's 2017 "Innovators in Construction" award for the public sector and statewide honors. The agency also received the highly competitive Pennsylvania Governor's Office of Transformation, Innovation, Management and Efficiency, or GO-TIME, Award. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf summarized the effect of the modernization program to-date, with the following: "I commend the department of general service team for embracing the challenge of working smarter, implementing new technology and delivering greater value for our citizens. This provides a better experience for our contractors and a faster solution for our construction needs."
